I’m proud to co-author the AidData policy report “Balancing Risk and Reward: Who benefits from China’s investments in Indonesia?”, published on June 12, 2025.

The report decodes over two decades of Beijing’s state-backed development finance (nearly $70 billion from 2000–2023) and private FDI (over $94 billion from 2010–2024), revealing which actors truly benefit.

Read the full executive summary or download the complete report to explore our findings.

The report was covered by the South China Morning Post “Should Indonesia scrutinise China-funded projects? Report flags debt risk but also benefits” (July 16, 2025), which drew on our findings to discuss how Indonesia can maximise the benefits of Chinese investment while managing risks.

Currently, I'm looking for a part-time research assistantship position. I'll be happy to discuss how I can contribute to your project or organization.
